World’s Worst Painter
Having trouble being inspired and wishing that I could just be one of those people happy to have a day job, 9 - 5, whatever you call them. Yeh, I could do that. Sit in an office, getting paid to do pretty close to balls all - that’s what I did last year pretty much, or that would have been what I did if my 9 - 5 hadn’t involved helping domestically and sexually abused women living in remote communities. I suck at a ‘normal life’.
So, trying squeeze out some creative juices and instead of getting myself depressed by looking at artists/designer/illustrators who’re making money and living seemingly awesome lives, creating critically acclaimed, award-winning work that’s adored by millions - I thought I’d Google ‘World’s Worst Painter’.
The results are just as, if not more, infuriating, though kind of leaves me satisfied that my previous belief that artists who’ve ‘made it’ are just people who are good at ‘making it’. To be commercially successful is an art in itself, and an art that other artists would not dedicate so much time and passion to since, well, they’re artists and have better things to do, like, make art.
